They are hot. That much is undeniable. They are the women you either want to be or want to be with. Meet Uh Huh Her - an electropop duo composed of the stunning blonde Leisha Hailey and the brooding brunette Camilla Grey. Both are not new to the American indie music scene, having worked with the likes of Kelly Osbourne and Dr. Dre, and already have followings from separate projects – such as Leisha’s stint as a lesbian in the hit show ‘The L Word,’ and Camilla’s stint as a bassist for Mellowdrone. The duo could probably persuade you to download their singles with just one sexy, sultry stare.

The band started with a DIY record, I See Red, produced almost entirely in the girls’ homes. This EP garnered them a spot in iTunes’ Top 20, the initial success that bore

fruit their full-length album Common Reaction, known for singles such as ‘Not a Love Song’ and ‘Wait Another Day.’ Fans can easily give the body of work a listen through Youtube or their recently reactivated Facebook Fan Page.

The work is exactly that – listenable. Given, the songs are all very well produced with synths and vocals perfectly harmonized, but none seem to break through and break out. As the girls’ sweet voices whisper, then growl of split-ups and dysfunction, you get a sense that you have heard all this before. More succinctly, you heard all this 20 years ago. It doesn’t help that even within their EP and album, the mood and tone is repetitive. Expect no happy jaunts or rhymes. Expect nothing but the prose of disappointed hearts slowly becoming disillusioned, as in ‘Not a Love Song’: Hollow is how you like it / What you see is what you get / Say you love me again / But you never do.

In a sense, I guess it is to be expected from this American indie electropop duo. Isn’t that what pretty girls are known to do? They seduce you, draw you in, then spit your heart out, leaving you melancholic and incomplete.
